This is a simple out-patient procedure where we insert a thin straw like plastic tube inside the uterus and suck out a little of the inner lining of the uterus called the endometrium for the purpose of sending it for biopsy.
It is done in cases of abnormal uterine bleeding or postmenopausal bleeding in order to test the tissue for any disordered growth which may be a precursor of uterine cancer.
It may detect early stages of uterine cancer also in some women
It is an easier alternative to the traditional Dilatation and curettage (D&C) as there is no need for admission or anaesthesia.

There may be minimum discomfort during the procedure which is usually reduced in minutes
Painkillers may be prescribed if required to be taken for a day after the procedure
An endometrial biopsy is the most common and accurate test used to diagnose endometrial cancer. We will get the biopsy report from pathology in5 to 7 working days and this will help us treat you accordingly .
